Hometown Glory
We’ve been getting quite a lot of auditions since the final casting call was issued, but it wasn’t until this past week that I felt, “Wow, we may have the rest of the cast.”
Since the beginning, I’ve always wanted to cast Charlie, Will, and Jess locally. By locally, I mean within the state or surrounding area. At the time, though, I didn’t know how local we might get.
Sure I’d love to cast people out of my hometown, but how many actors were there in a town of 400 or a neighboring town of 200? That said, I was really surprised that some of the best auditions from this past week are literally from “just down the road.”
For that, I’m very glad.
We plan on announcing the final casting for “Come Morning” around August 31. It may or may not be in the production diary, but you will soon find out who will fill those three roles.

Just last night, executive producer and Fordyce native Dan Moore sent me photos of two houses that we may use for the film. One of them is truly fantastic. We also heard from two others this past week about houses and land to shoot on, so things are looking very good for our location hunt. We can always use more, so if you still know of any houses built prior to 1960 with a front porch, please let us know.
Zac Heath, Maurice Mejia, and I will join Thomas Moore in Arkansas in less than a month. We will begin physically scouting those areas, building sets, and finding those two trucks that we are still without. We may have one, but we’re in need of another, so keep an eye out for a 60s-70s model pickup.

In other hometown news, my Dad, a dean of students at my old high school, told me that a few of the teachers wished I would stop by and have a talk with their classes before we shot “Come Morning.”
First of all, it’s extremely flattering, because it was “only a few years ago” I was there beside them in one of the school desks. Secondly, in those years since I’ve graduated, lots of things have changed economically in the area. Not to go into any details, but the place is becoming more and more impoverished.
It’s really disheartening thinking about it. When Dad asked, I thought to myself, “I really wish some movie-person would have talked to me while I was in school. It could have given me more insight into movies rather than just my own experience doing “Rambo” pictures on the weekends. Plus, it sort of builds hope, even if only for a week for some, but for others it might broaden the ideas for their future.
So wish me luck. I’m doing this, and I hope it inspires a new generation of southern filmmakers. It’ll also push me to work harder to make sure I’m better than them!

IMDB has updated some of our credits. Elise Rovinsky and Dean Denton are now “officially” part of the film according to the internet. Some of the other credits still haven’t appeared, but hopefully they will later this week.
Exec. producer, Andrea Cadelli is flying out to L.A. to meet with me in two weeks. We’re going to hang out mostly, and do a little work on the side! I can’t wait for her to arrive!
We got the final pair of shoes for Thor Wahlestedt, so “D” is now completely wardrobed!
The ball is moving quickly. Before you know it, you’ll be seeing “Behind the Scenes” of “Come Morning!”
